Next Frontiers of African Philanthropy

The 5th African Philanthropy Conference will explore how recent developments in Artificial Intelligence, Climate Change, Big Data and others are poised to influence and be influenced by philanthropy. The conference is aimed at institutions and stakeholders seeking progressive conversations and reflections about the future of development through the lens of African philanthropy. The event seeks to foster dialogue, collaboration, and action towards advancing philanthropic and social investment endeavours with a focus on exploring emerging trends, innovative strategies, and their potential impacts on traditional philanthropic models. In parallel to the main conference, there will be an Academic Conference offering a platform for the presentation of academic research and dialogue facilitating feedback and learning. The Lifetime Achievement Award, meanwhile, will honour an individual whose work has made significant contributions to philanthropy. Previous honourees include Graça Machel and Akwasi Aidoo. The convening will also host an exhibition to showcase projects and initiatives that are driving social change across the African continent.

Notes

This event will take place between Monday 29 July and Friday 2 August 2024 at Elephant Hills Resort in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, with activities also hosted in Livingstone in Zambia. More information about registration and tickets is available here.
