Feminist philanthropy and the global manosphere

The global rise of the manosphere - a network of online spaces promoting misogyny, male supremacy, and anti-gender narratives - poses a growing challenge to feminist movements and gender justice. While attention has focused largely on Western platforms, far less is known about how this phenomenon manifests globally, or the role philanthropy may play in countering or unintentionally fuelling its expansion.

This event hosted by Alliance brings together activists, researchers, and feminist philanthropy leaders to examine how funding digital justice, media literacy, and narrative change can disrupt misogynistic networks while promoting healthier models of masculinity.

Questions the panel will explore include:

• What is the manosphere and how is it threatening gender justice around the world?

• Does philanthropy have a role in combatting the global manosphere?

• How are funders and feminist organisations collaborating to design local solutions to a global movement of online misogyny?
