How climate change is hurting health in the Arab region

.... and what Philanthropy can do about it

The warnings are stark – the climate crisis is also a health crisis. According to the World Health Organization, between 2030 and 2050 climate change is expected to cause tens of thousands of additional deaths per year from undernutrition, malaria, diarrhea, and heat stress alone.

This doesn't include a multitude of other diseases and ailments that are indirectly caused by global warming, including respiratory illnesses exacerbated by pollution and wildfire smoke, waterborne sicknesses driven by flooding, severe mental health issues due to living with the dire effects of climate change, and so on. 

The consequences of climate change on the health of communities around the world impacts the work of philanthropic organizations focusing on everything from health and food security to children's rights and women's empowerment. 

Join Arab Foundations Forum (AFF) for the next in its climate action series with Impatience Earth to discuss how rising temperatures affect global health and specifically health in the Arab region. 

The speakers will be: Mohamed Kamal, a specialist in solid waste management and plastic pollution, and executive director at Greenish, an Egyptian foundation that aims to achieve sustainable development through environmental awareness, education, and advocacy; and Mohammad Shalaby, executive director of the Magrabi Foundation, an Egyptian NGO working in the field of community eye health integrated in development with a rights-based approach.

The workshop will be led by Impatience Earth and seeks to help you understand how climate change affects the health of communities, why the Arab region is particularly vulnerable, and what your organisation can do to help.

The session will run from 15:45 - 17:00 pm (GST)
