Khalil Sakakini Cultural Centre Foundation

Initially, the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center (KSCC) was part of the Palestinian Ministry of Culture when established in May 1996. Two years later, it became a nonprofit, independent organisation. The mission of KSCC is to promote and nuture culture and arts among all people within Palestinian society. KSCC plays an important role in promoting arts and culture in Palestine, through fostering cultural heritage, creativity, and literary and artistic practices. Over the past two decades, it has hosted a multitude of events including art exhibitions, festivals, performances, concerts, film screenings, and poetry readings.

Programmes

  • In Reach Programme

The ‘In-Reach’ Programme links the Center directly to the community through offering a fully equipped space and the expertise of the staff to organise public arts and culture events for individuals, groups, and collectives.

  • Land Programme

The Land Programme seeks to employ the garden of the Cultural Center as part of its cultural movement. This programme invites artists and practitioners of other disciplines, including anthropologists, historians, architects, and cultural theorists, to engage in experimental pioneering projects based on the earth as a medium for artistic expression and questioning.

  • Literature Programme

The Literature Programme offers space for Palestinian writers to discover, develop and express themselves through exposure to diverse literary experiences and literary audiences. The programme features a series of activities including readings, training on literary short stories, book launchings, residency programs and mentorship programs.

  • Visual Arts Programme

The programme targets young, mid-career, and established artists, both Palestinian and international, and invites these artists, together with academics, researchers and art practitioners, to engage in artworks in the form of artistic research around critical social, political, and cultural questions. Annually, KSCC aims to produce at least two visual arts exhibitions with associated events open to the general public.
