Womanity

Established in 2005 by Dubai-based Swiss entrepreneur and philanthropist Yann Borgstedt, Womanity invests in and develops solutions to address gender-based issues across the Global South. Womanity delivers both its own programmes and support social changemakers and movements. Womanity focuses its work on the prevention of violence against women and girls, supporting grassroots organisations, advancing girls’ education, leveraging media for gender equality, and unlocking women’s access to land rights.

Programmes

  • Disruptive Media

    Womanity supports and collaborates with progressive media platforms and creators to drive gender-inclusive storytelling and social change across the Middle East and North Africa.

  • Educate Girls

    The programme provides community-based primary education, including STEM, to underprivileged children, with a focus on girls, in Afghanistan. The programme also aims to provide young women with digital skills in computer literacy, coding, and web development. 

  • Land for Women

    Womanity partners with NGOs and local communities to raise awareness for women’s land rights in India, and increase land ownership among women in India, thus fostering independence, self-reliance, and financial security.

  • Womanity Award

    The programme aims to catalyse transnational partnerships between organisations across different countries in the Global South to adapt and leverage innovative solutions to raise awareness, mobilise communities, and change social norms to end violence against women and girls.
