Aster DM Foundation

Aster DM Foundation is the nonprofit arm of international conglomerate Aster DM Healthcare. Established by company founder Dr Azad Moopen, the organisation seeks to reduce the burden of medical care among underserved communities, progress health outcomes, and improve livelihoods. Its programmes include the funding of dialysis programmes, free or subsidised treatment, special education support, and humanitarian relief to disaster-hit communities. Its flagship initiative is Aster Volunteers, which sees Aster DM Healthcare staff offer their time and skills to support local communities.

Programmes

  • Aster Volunteers
    Aster Volunteer is the foundation's flagship programme, delivering medical and non-medical aid through a broad network of volunteers. Its in first five years, the inititative reached more than 3 million beneficiaries, through its team of more than 40,000 volunteers.
  • Community dialysis centres
    The foundation plans to establish a network of dialysis centers in Kerala to support patients that require, but cannot fund, regular dialysis.
  • Early diseases detection and cancer screening centres
    In partnership with the Moopen family foundation, Aster DM Foundation has establised screening centers in Kerala through its existing healthcare facilities, extending their techical equipment and capacity.
  • Save the Little Hearts
    This initiative provides free surgical treatment within the Aster DM Healthcare network for children with congenital heart defects.
  • Special needs school
    The Moopen family supports a special needs school in northern Kerala, which promotes support and awareness for differently abled children.
