Qatar Charity

Qatar Charity is a an international NGO providing assistance to people affected by conflict and disasters and running programmes in social welfare, water and sanitation, education, nutrition and economic empowerment. It was established in 1984 by a group of Qatari philanthropists as a community initiative known as the Committee of Qatar for Orphan Sponsorship, as a response to the rising number of children orphaned by conflict in neighboring countries. In 1992, the organisation scaled up its programmes and outreach and became an international NGO under the name of Qatar Charity. While it receives some grants from government donor agencies, its main income comes from individuals. To-date, projects have impacted more than 10 million people in 49 countries.
